Save the date of Thursday, 12/14 for the Doral Woods Christmas party. Again at the clubhouse of PCC #7, attendance is limited to the first 80 who respond. Watch for the flyer.
The 35th annual Doral Woods Christmas party was held Wednesday, December 16 at the Pinehurst Resort Members Club. Pat and Tom Royal hosted the evening for 70 neighbors to gather to share the Christmas spirit. Pat and Tom provided each lady with a red rose and baked a loaf of pumpkin bread for each couple to make the evening even more special.
Tom Royal thanked the many Doral Woods volunteers that work through out the year to make this such a special place to live. In addition, he awarded the longest residents (The Raney’s, nearly 30 years) with a bottle of champagne and the shortest time residents (The Blick’s, 4 months) with a bottle of Bud Light. (they need to work up to the champagne). Also recognized was the highest male golf handicap (Bill LiVolsi, awarded two sleeves of balls as he probably needs them each round) and the lowest male handicap (Don D’Apolito, a single ball, as that’s probably enough). Similarly, Dianne Cole-Hall was awarded a single ball as the lowest female handicap, and Carol Higgins, as the highest handicap, got 2 sleeves of balls. Tom recognized and awarded a beautiful first prize ribbon to Eldorado Lane, whose residents supported the event in the highest quantity.
Kay Wildt lead the group in singing seasonal songs and Christmas carols before the DJ started the music for dancing. By observation, the main activity was socialization among the attendees with the gathering providing the opportunity to see many old friends and make new ones.
Next year’s hosts are Dianne Cole-Hall and Alan Hall. Feel free to lend them a hand in the continuation of this long time tradition in Doral Woods.
